Music ITE Resources: All Resources

This resource sets out to help student teachers understand the current context and explore the different pathways available to young musicians aged 14-19.

This resource is intended to support student-teachers in finding ways of consulting pupils about their classroom experience. This will require appreciation of what is meant by ‘pupil voice’ and how it relates to the way we see children and young people and how we might think about them differently.

This resource describes an approach to discussion and explains why I think "Collegial Consultation" is effective in developing students’ ability to reflect together and to solve problems.

Q Standards

This resource is a summary of a research report examining student teachers’ attitudes towards the standards for qualified teacher status (QTS) and, in particular, how their perception of their difficulty changes during four PGCE courses, at the universities of Bath Spa, Oxford Brookes, Reading and Southampton.

This resource suggests how we might develop musicians who understand the totality of music education, drawing on best practice from all contexts and capable of brokering deals between different providers.

Implications of the KS2 Music CPD Programme

This resource considers the implications of the Key Stage 2 Music CPD programme (and the whole class instrumental and vocal programmes which it supports) for Initial Teacher Education (ITE) and the wider context of continuing professional development for music teachers.
